Dear CCTPG Member,
The California Community Technology Policy Group (CCTPG ) cordially invites you to attend the 2008 Sacramento Day to be held on May 6, 2008 in Sacramento, California.
Join us in Sacramento to:
- Attend the Senate hearing on the California Broadband Task Force Report;
- Meet your local legislators and highlight your programs involving technology; and
- Meet other individuals from throughout California interested in community technology.
The California Broadband Task Force will present their final report “The State of Connectivity: Building Innovation Through Broadband ” to the California Senate Energy, Utilities and Communications Committee. This is an opportunity for community-based organizations (CBO) to represent the needs and interests of underserved communities throughout California. The participation of your CBO will show the Senate that the deployment and adoption of broadband is an urgent priority for communities throughout California, and will highlight the key role CBOs can play in implementing the recommendations presented by the report.
After the hearing, CCTPG members will have time to meet with their state representatives and highlight their technology-based programs. Through these meetings, CBOs can show their government representatives the valuable work they are conducting in making sure that underserved communities reap the economic, educational, health, and civic benefits offered by technology. If necessary, CCTPG can help arrange appointments.
During lunch time, CCTPG will organize a working lunch to update members on the activities of the California Teleconnect Fund (CTF) Administrative Committee, as well as introduce O1 Communications — a telecommunication company that honors all of the CTF discounts for CBOs throughout California. CCTPG will also provide updates on its policy agenda and discuss the status of several technology projects/initiatives that benefit CCTPG members.
